Examples & highlights (with where to find them, Oracle text & analysis)
Avatar Aang // Aang, Master of Elements — Borderless Raised Foil
Found in: only Collector Boosters, only the Raised Foil version, English-only. → Go to Collector Booster Display
Mana Cost / Type (front): {R}{G}{W}{U} — Legendary Creature — Human Avatar Ally (4/4)
Oracle text (front): Flying, firebending 2.
Whenever you waterbend, earthbend, firebend, or airbend, draw a card. Then if you've done all four this turn, transform Avatar Aang.
Mana Cost / Type (back): — Legendary Creature — Avatar Ally (6/6)
Oracle text (back): Flying.
Spells you cast cost {W}{U}{B}{R}{G} less to cast.
At the beginning of each upkeep, you may transform Aang, Master of Elements. If you do, you gain 4 life, draw four cards, put four +1/+1 counters on him, and he deals 4 damage to each opponent.
Analysis: Aang rewards you for doing “all four bending types in one turn” and flips into an extremely powerful back side. Ideal in decks that combine lots of bending triggers (Appa, Zuko, Katara) and leverage extra main phases/exile shenanigans. On the back, every spell gets cheaper—perfect to push over the finish line in Commander.
Fire Lord Zuko — Borderless Battle Pose (Neon Ink)
Found in: Neon Ink version only in Collector Boosters (English text). Non-Neon printings (foil/non-foil) appear in Play & Collector Boosters. → Go to Collector Booster Display
Mana Cost / Type: {R}{W}{B} — Legendary Creature — Human Noble Ally (2/4)
Oracle text: Firebending X, where X is Fire Lord Zuko's power.
(Whenever this creature attacks, add X {R}. This mana lasts until end of combat.)
Whenever you cast a spell from exile and whenever a permanent you control enters from exile, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control.
Analysis: Zuko links “from exile” play with team-wide growth. Perfect with red effects like impulse draw, cascade/adventure, and with airbending strategies (Appa). The firebending mana fuels combat tricks and activated abilities.
Katara, Water Tribe’s Hope — Elemental Frame
Found in: Play Boosters & Collector Boosters (both non-foil & traditional foil). → Go to Play Booster Display | Collector
Mana Cost / Type: {2}{W}{U}{U} — Legendary Creature — Human Warrior Ally (3/3)
Oracle text: Vigilance.
When Katara enters, create a 1/1 white Ally creature token.
Waterbend {X}: Creatures you control have base power and toughness X/X until end of turn. X can't be 0. Activate only during your turn.
Analysis: Katara is a clean “temporary anthem”: with enough mana, every attacker becomes a massive threat. Synergizes with wide boards (Ally theme) and effects that generate extra tokens.
Full-Art Appa lands
Found in: Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Bundle, Commander’s Bundle, and Jumpstart (each in non-foil & traditional foil). → View the collection
Type: Basic Land — Plains
Oracle text: ({T}: Add {W}.)
Analysis: A stylish basic set featuring Appa—perfect to theme up your deck or for an Avatar collection.
Toph, the First Metalbender
Found in: Play Boosters (also available in Collector Boosters). → Go to Play Booster Display
Mana Cost / Type: {1}{R}{G}{W} — Legendary Creature — Human Warrior Ally (3/3)
Oracle text: Nontoken artifacts you control are lands in addition to their other types.
At the beginning of your end step, earthbend 2.
(Target land you control becomes a 0/0 creature with haste that's still a land. Put two +1/+1 counters on it. When it dies or is exiled, return it to the battlefield tapped.)
Analysis: Turns artifacts into lands and uses earthbend to animate them as attackers that return after “dying.” Strong synergies with counters, landfall, and sacrifice themes—while still resilient to board wipes thanks to the return clause.
Appa, Steadfast Guardian
Found in: Play Boosters (also available in Collector Boosters). → Go to Play Booster Display
Mana Cost / Type: {2}{W}{W} — Legendary Creature — Bison Ally (3/4)
Oracle text: Flash.
Flying.
When Appa enters, airbend any number of other target nonland permanents you control.
Whenever you cast a spell from exile, create a 1/1 white Ally creature token.
Analysis: Instant-speed tempo with a protection angle: flash-Appa saves your permanents via airbend to exile so you can redeploy them on the cheap—and it fuels Zuko/Aang strategies built around from exile. Excellent in ETB decks and as a response to board wipes.
Tip: If you’re specifically chasing special treatments, the Collector Booster Display is your best bet. For a blend of play and collect, the Commander’s Bundle is the convenient entry point. Drafters reach for the Play Booster Display. Or browse the entire Avatar: The Last Airbender collection.
