Magic: The Gathering — FINAL FANTASY was released on June 13, 2025 and combines iconic characters, mechanics like Saga Creatures, and artful nods to the FF series. Here are five standout cards with images, original text, and analysis.
5. Golbez, Crystal Collector
Mana Cost / Type: {U}{B} — Legendary Creature — Human Wizard (1/4)
Original text:
"Whenever an artifact you control enters, surveil 1.
At the beginning of your end step, if you control four or more artifacts, return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand. Then if you control eight or more artifacts, each opponent loses life equal to that card’s power."
Analysis: Golbez is strong in artifact-synergy decks. He can return creatures from the graveyard and adds extra damage potential when you control many artifacts. In Commander, he’s already being mentioned as an interesting value engine.
4. Cid, Timeless Artificer
Mana Cost / Type: {2}{W}{U} — Legendary Creature — Human Artificer (4/4)
Original text:
Artifact creatures and Heroes you control get +1/+1 for each Artificer you control and each Artificer card in your graveyard.
A deck can have any number of cards named Cid, Timeless Artificer.
Cycling {W}{U} ({W}{U}, Discard this card: Draw a card.)
Analysis: Cid is among the most discussed cards in the set. The exception that you may play any number of copies—a rare effect in Magic—is particularly exciting. He also buffs artifact creatures and Heroes, making him a strong value card in the right strategies. This special rule is frequently highlighted in community discussions.
3. Vivi Ornitier
Mana Cost / Type: {1}{U}{R} — Legendary Creature — Wizard (0/3)
Original text:
{0}: Add X mana in any combination of {U} and/or {R}, where X is Vivi Ornitier’s power. Activate only during your turn and only once each turn.
Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, put a +1/+1 counter on Vivi Ornitier and it deals 1 damage to each opponent.
Analysis: Vivi is one of the most celebrated cards in the set and is already regarded as one of the most valuable. The mix of steady growth when you cast spells and the extra damage to all opponents makes them extremely strong. With the ability to generate mana based on their power, they quickly become a dangerous lynchpin in blue-red spell or combo strategies.
2. Ultima Weapon
Mana Cost / Type: {7} — Legendary Artifact — Equipment
Original text:
Whenever equipped creature attacks, destroy target creature an opponent controls.
Equipped creature gets +7/+7.
Equip {7}
Analysis: Ultima Weapon combines a massive stat boost (+7/+7) with the ability to destroy opposing creatures on attack, making it extremely impactful in many situations. Especially in aggressive decks with big attackers, it can apply enormous pressure while removing key threats.

1. Jumbo Cactuar
Mana Cost / Type: {5}{G}{G} — Creature — Plant (1/7)
Original text:
10,000 Needles — Whenever this creature attacks, it gets +9999/+0 until end of turn.
Analysis: Jumbo Cactuar is one of the flashiest cards in the set. Thanks to the enormous power boost, it can become a true one-shot threat—especially once it has trample so excess damage gets through. While often labeled a “fun card,” many players still see serious potential in the right conditions.
